Training courses for teachers of Italian foreign language

NUMBER OF HOUR PER WEEK: 20 (55 minute lessons)
NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS: 3 – 12
DURATION: 1 week / 2 weeks
ATTENDANCE: morning / afternoon
LEVELS: upper intermediate / advanced

The course is intended for teachers of Italian L2/LS and students with a B2, C1 and C2 language level.
In addition to language teaching courses for the preparation of DITALS exams, Romanica also offers training and refresh courses for teachers of Italian L2/LS who work in Italy or abroad. The courses, held by specialised teachers, are in the morning. Cultural activities during the afternoon or the evening (guided tours – workshops).
For training courses we suggest the following 5 programs with a duration of one week each (on demand there is the opportunity to start customised programs based on a specific topic):
A) ITALIAN FILM INDUSTRY: FROM NEOREALISM TO CONTEMPORARY MOVIES
An overview starting from the big directors of Neorealism, passing through Fellini’s and Pasolini’s poetics, up to Crialese’s and Sorrentino’s images. Poetics – images analysis – language analysis – cinematographic scripts as educational material – preparation of educational units
B) ITALIAN LANGUAGE THROUGH CONTEMPORARY LITERATURE
Presentation and analysis of the works of the most representative Italian contemporary authors: Dacia Maraini, Stefano Benni, Simona Vinci, Niccolò Ammanniti… Poetics – language analysis –texts as educational material – preparation of educational units
C) ITALIAN LANGUAGE: FROM STANDARD LANGUAGE TO DIALECTS
Standard Italian, neo-standard Italian, regional Italian, dialects; analysis and identification of the linguistic varieties present in Italy. The material is authentic (songs, movies, documentaries, literature) and will underline the linguistic and cultural differences that make Italy such a unique country.
D) ITALIAN MISTERIES: ‘BEL PAESE’ CONTEMPORARY STORY
The seventies and the eighties in Italy: a journalistic voyage through students’, workers’, women’s street demonstrations, the urban guerrilla between right wing and left wing gangs, between police and workers; ‘black’ terrorism and ‘red’ terrorism, the massacres, attacks and kidnappings, the assassinations, the silence. Presentation of contemporary Italian history through articles, interviews, documentaries, movies, literature and songs.
E) ITALIAN L2/LS TEACHER’S COMPETENCES: PROFILE AND DEVELOPMENT
Improvement of the professional competences required for who teaches Italian language L2/LS: analysis and evaluation of teaching books, planning of the educational units, production of educational materials adequate to different needs, class management.
