If you arrive in Italy by plane the nearest airport to Modena is the airport Marconi of Bologna (about 35km from Modena). From Bologna you can take a bus, train or taxi to Modena. 

1. BUS There is a direct bus from the Bologna airport to Modena - price of the one-way ticket: € 10,00 (see timetable here). 

2. TRAIN There is also a bus from the airport to the train station of Bologna (see timetable here) from where it is possible to take a train to Modena - price of the one-way ticket: about € 5,00 without the supplementary charges  (see timetable here). 

3. TAXI The taxi is definitely not the cheapest way to arrive in Modena (about € 60,00), but useful if you arrive in the evening.

The other Italian airports from which it is easy to reach Modena are:

  • Milan Linate - 30 minutes by bus to the central station of Milan + 2 hours by train to Modena.

  • Milan Malpensa - 40 minutes by train to the central station of Milan + 2 hours by train to Modena.

  • Rome Fiumicino - 30 minutes by train to the station Termini of Rome + 3 - 4 hours by train to Modena.
